You may remember last summer I reviewed the original JoeScrub coffee scrub here on the blog and absolutely loved the results. It was an amazing, all-natural and envigorating exfoliation treatment that left my skin smooth and soft for days. Fast forward six months and JoeScrub contacted me again to tell me about two new products they recently launched on their website. This time of the year the effects of indoor heating and blistering cold temperatures can certainly take a toll on your skin, so I was more than happy to try out the new all-natural Matcha scrub and Charcoal scrub.

Since we returned from our winter vacation at the beginning of January, my skin has been very dry as it adjusts back to the cold weather. Having said that, it was just the right time to treat my face to a little TLC, so I headed to my testing zone (aka my bathroom) with a cup of detoxifying green tea and alkaline lemon water and put these scrubs to use.

The Charcoal scrub is envigorating, fresh and leaves your skin with a cool, lively feeling. The main ingredient, “activated charcoal”, is known to absorb chemicals and toxins and so in the scrub it works to remove impurities in the skin and leaves you with a smooth finish. It also smells amazing because of the lavender and rosemary essential oils which give you an awake and purifying feeling. I would use this scrub when my skin feels dull and lifeless, in order to revive and freshen.

The Matcha scrub I would describe as more earthy and warming than the Charcoal. It felt very hydrating due to the oil content (apricot kernel, coconut, calendula and sandalwood essential oils), leaving my skin moisturized and glowing. On a cold winter night, a nice hot bath paired with a good matcha face scrub will definitely leave you feeling warmed and centered.

Looking forward to the next time I get a little alone time to treat my skin to some more pampering.
