FRESH AND FUN BOYS BEDROOM TOUR

little boys bedroom tourIt’s finally reveal day for a special room that’s been a long time coming! It only took three months from concept to completion, but we finally made it and today we are so excited to share the tour of our little boys bedroom. I’m so in love with how it all turned out and this may just be my favourite kids room in the whole house (shh, don’t tell Gemma)! In case you may have missed it, here are links to the other three rooms I’ve designed for Massimo over the years (Nursery, Toddler Room, Little Big Boy’s Room).

It all started with this wallpaper from Rocky Mountain Decals that I knew would be the perfect backdrop for something fun and inspiring. I wanted this space to be fresh, exciting, and a little unexpected – so this Monochrome Herringbone self-adhesive wallpaper set the stage for the rest of the room just perfectly. Installation was a breeze, and within just a few hours all the paper was up and the wall complete. This will be my third peel-and-stick wallpaper install, and I truly have to say that the more you do it the easier it becomes. These are 10’ walls and I managed to do the entire wall without any assistance from start to finish. I highly recommend this type of paper for fast, easy wall transformations that make such a huge impact in any space.

little boys bedroom tourWe designed a palette of mint, teal and gold for a really unexpected yet fresh direction.  We already had the bed so had to make the grey work – but I ended up loving how it was the perfect neutral backdrop for all the colour we brought into the space. The walls are painted Benjamin Moore Green Cast (842) and I love how the Rocky Mountain Decal wallpaper just pops against the mint green. For the ceiling light I really wanted something fun that would take centre stage and create great ambiance for the room. Of course I turned to my favourite lady at Sazerac Stitches and together we paired the Loa Annunciation Chandelier in Mermaid Green and the Loa Sconce with Mint Shade for the most amazing punch of colour and style. Every time I walk into the room I’m wowed by these stunning fixtures! The retro-sputnik shape of the chandelier is so unique and fun, and this room would really be nothing without it. Just how amazing do the mint sconces look against the wallpaper? These colours make me so happy!

I’ve wanted a vintage armoire somewhere in our house for so long and believe it or not, it’s very difficult to find the perfect shape and size. But after weeks of scouting on Facebook Marketplace, I finally found this one and it couldn’t be any more perfect. Ideally I would have liked it to be a bit taller, but since its for a kids room the height works well so Massimo can open it up and reach everything inside. We decided to use this for toy storage since he really didn’t need it for clothes – and what a brilliant idea! After a day of playing you just shove everything inside (it has drawers on one side and an open section on the other side where we put a big basket for stuffies). Voila – mess gone!

We did need a dresser for clothes so I came across this MCM beauty from Vintage Hut Furniture (first found her on FB Marketplace then discovered her lovely Instagram shop). At first I wasn’t sure if the style of the dresser and armoire would work together, but paint anything the same colour and they instantly become a pair. Love these two pieces together so so much!

little boys bedroom tourlittle boys bedroom tourlittle boys bedroom tourWhen it came to decor I started with a leopard theme (hello cutest bedding ever), but kept it subtle so the space didn’t become overly childish. And completely by chance I found this artwork at HomeSense that couldn’t have been more perfect – I mean how random was that? The perfect colour, the perfect print, the perfect frame. Obsessed!

I also want to mention a few other DIY’s I did in the space, other than painting the furniture. I made this super-easy no-sew bench cushion by following my own instructions from one of my very first blog posts (and the most popular with you guys too). Read it HERE. Since yellow was kept to a minimum (only seen on the leopard details), I found the perfect fabric and used it for a cozy and bright window seat cushion. Love how it pops!

I also make the cute little ROAR pillow on the bed. I had found an image of the ideal one on Pinterest from Pottery Barn Teen, but sadly it was sold out. So instead, I purchased a plain white pillow at HomeSense and ironed on these letter decals I found at Fabricland. Could this accent pillow be any more perfect to finish off the bed?
